Canby Pride was founded with a simple but powerful belief: everyone deserves to feel seen, valued, and safe in their community.
What began as a small grassroots effort has grown into a year round nonprofit organization focused on connection, visibility, education, and celebration for LGBTQIA+ people, families, and allies in Canby and surrounding rural communities.
We know that community building in small towns matters deeply. Representation matters. Access matters. Feeling welcome in public spaces matters. Canby Pride exists to help create those moments of belonging through events, partnerships, advocacy, education, and collaboration.
Each June, we host Pride at Wait Park, a free, family friendly community celebration that brings together hundreds of people from across the region for live entertainment, local vendors, resources, art, music, and joy. But our work extends far beyond one day. Throughout the year, we collaborate with local businesses, libraries, faith communities, nonprofits, and community partners to create more visible and inclusive spaces throughout Canby.
Our mission is not just to create LGBTQIA+ spaces. It is to help build a community where LGBTQIA+ people are welcomed throughout the community.
We believe in bridge building, compassion, visibility, and the power of storytelling. We believe rural communities deserve access to connection and support. We believe every person deserves dignity and the freedom to live authentically.
Whether you are LGBTQIA+, a parent, a neighbor, a business owner, a young person looking for connection, or someone simply wanting to learn and support others, you belong here.
Many Stories. One Community.

Canby Pride’s Mission is to create community in Canby Oregon through visibility, education and advocacy for LGBTQ+ people.
Canby Pride was founded in 2021 by local community members who believed LGBTQIA+ people in rural communities deserved visibility, celebration, and connection close to home. What began as a small grassroots effort quickly grew into an annual community event bringing together families, neighbors, businesses, artists, and organizations from across the region.
In its earliest years, Canby Pride was built almost entirely through volunteer energy, community donations, and local partnerships. Each year, attendance grew alongside community support, demonstrating the importance of creating welcoming public spaces where people could gather authentically and safely.
Over time, Canby Pride expanded beyond a single event and evolved into a year round nonprofit organization focused on advocacy, education, collaboration, and community building throughout Canby and surrounding rural areas.
Canby Pride is committed to creating meaningful, visible, and lasting impact in Canby and surrounding rural communities through events, partnerships, education, advocacy, and community connection.
While Pride at Wait Park remains our largest annual event, our work extends throughout the year in collaboration with local organizations, businesses, libraries, faith communities, and grassroots partners.
Pride at Wait Park
Our annual Pride celebration brings together hundreds of community members each year for a free, family friendly event featuring live entertainment, local vendors, artists, food, community resources, youth activities, and opportunities for connection and visibility.
The event creates an accessible and welcoming public space where LGBTQIA+ people, families, allies, and neighbors can gather openly and authentically in the heart of Canby.
Community Partnerships
We believe community change happens through relationships. Canby Pride actively partners with local businesses, nonprofits, libraries, advocacy groups, healthcare organizations, and faith communities to expand visibility, access, and support throughout the community.
These collaborations help create more inclusive spaces and increase opportunities for education, dialogue, and connection beyond Pride Month.
Advocacy & Visibility
Canby Pride works to increase LGBTQIA+ visibility and representation in civic and community spaces. This includes participating in local conversations, supporting community initiatives, attending public meetings, collaborating with local leaders, and advocating for inclusion and belonging within rural communities.
Youth & Community Support
Creating safer and more connected spaces for LGBTQIA+ youth and families remains an important part of our mission. We support opportunities for community education, mental health awareness, resource sharing, and intergenerational connection.
Arts, Storytelling & Education
Canby Pride believes storytelling has the power to build empathy and strengthen communities. Through author events, educational programming, creative projects, community conversations, and local collaborations, we aim to foster understanding while celebrating the diversity of LGBTQIA+ experiences.
Looking Ahead
As Canby Pride continues to grow, we remain committed to building sustainable partnerships, expanding community access, supporting rural LGBTQIA+ visibility, and creating spaces where people feel welcomed, valued, and connected.
